www-data read user home folder

www-data is apache2 user

ub is my user

and you want save your server home folder ex: /home/ub/websites

# make dir with reqursive for websites and logs
$ mkdir -p ~/websites/logs
#fix your 000-default file
$ sudo nano /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost

DocumentRoot /home/ub/websites

Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
<Directory /home/ub/websites/>

allow from all
